As much as we may have wanted at times, unfortunately we cannot change the past. It is what it is. So does that mean we are slaves of our thoughts and destined to suffer every time our mind travels back in time?
Fortunately we can change how we see the events that we would have preferred to erase, and above all change how we feel when something appears in our life that our mind considers similar to that unpleasant moment, triggering the amygdala which in turn makes us anxious. By revisiting an unpleasant trauma or event while tapping on the meridian endpoints, we send a message to the amygdala to calm down, essentially 'resetting the program' and removing the emotional charge that hurt us. As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, "A memory without the emotional charge is called wisdom." I find these words quite apt.
